 – Inibehe Effiong, a critic and rights activist, believes that the Nigerian judiciary is rotten and must be sanitised as early as possible to regain its glory

– The National Judicial Commission (NJC) recently sacked Justice Mohammed Yunusa over a petition by a civil society organisation

– Effiong lamented that some dishonourable, corruptible and integrity-challenged judges in Nigeria have badly ridiculed the image of the judiciary in the eyes of the public Lawyer and rights activist, Inibehe Effiong, has urged the National Judicial Commission (NJC) to go all out against judges who have, by their actions, soiled their hands and the legal profession.

Effiong was reacting to the dismissal of Justice Mohammed Yunusa of the Federal High Court by the NJC, when he made this demand. Yunusa was dismissed after he was reportedly found guilty of allegations against him by the Civil Society Network Against Corruption (CSNAC). Comrade Olanrewaju Suraju, head of the CSNAC, had petitioned the NJC over how the judge allegedly granted interim and perceptual injunctions in seven cases thus restraining the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from taking criminal actions against some suspects, including Senator Stella Oduah.
